Production Technician
Ryan Tucker in action
Ryan Tucker is a Production Technician with AETN’s
In Their Words Oral History Project. He has been involved with the project since January 2007.
Ryan was born in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1981 to Terry and Debbie Tucker. He was raised in Searcy, Arkansas and graduated from high school there in 2000. Ryan attended college at Arkansas State University. During his senior year he worked at the Archives and Special Collections in the Dean B. Ellis Library. It was there that he developed a passion for oral history. He was primarily responsible for transcribing recorded oral histories and began diligently working on them. By the time he graduated, he had done more oral history transcriptions than any of the previous student workers combined.
After graduation, Ryan went to work for a local cable TV station in his hometown. He then went on to work as a photojournalist at KAIT in Jonesboro. After growing tired of the news industry, Ryan moved back to Searcy to become the operations manager for an up and coming TV station. One Sunday Ryan saw a job ad for the In Their Words project in the newspaper. He knew that he had to be a part of the project.
Ryan is responsible for interviewing veterans, editing their testimonies for the web, and a lot of other things that go along with the project. His compassion for the World War II generation and his love for oral history are what drive him in this project.
