The phrase Gung Ho actually is chinese for "work together".

Did you know it was the motto of the U.S. Marine Corps unit known as Carlson's Raiders in World War II?

Land acquisition for development of a military base
With more than $241 million spent to build defense enterprises, the federal government spent $100 million to establish military bases such as Camp Joseph T. Robinson near North Little Rock (Pulaski County), Camp Chafee near Fort Smith (Sebastian County), and five training airfields in east Arkansas during the war. Residents in towns close to the camps enjoyed the profits from the influx of outsiders, and authorities generally overlooked the enforcement of regulations requiring the closing of businesses on Sunday.
